The DNA Of Abraham’s Children
I read a very interesting article the other day regarding the subject of DNA distinctions of the Jewish people. I thought you might find it interesting as well. I’ve copied the article in full, but you can visit the link yourself here.
Analysis of Jewish genomes refutes the Khazar claim. [Excerpts]
Jews have historically considered themselves “people of the book” (am hasefer in Hebrew), referring to sacred tomes, but the phrase is turning out to have an equally powerful, if unintended, meaning: scientists are able to read Jewish genomes like a history book. The latest DNA volume weighs in on the controversial, centuries-old (and now revived in a 2008 book) claim that European Jews are all the descendants of Khazars, a Turkic group of the north Caucasus who converted to Judaism in the late eighth and early ninth century. The DNA has spoken: no.
In the wake of studies in the 1990s that supported biblically based notions of a priestly caste descended from Aaron, brother of Moses, an ambitious new project to analyze genomes collected from Jewish volunteers has yielded its first discoveries. In a paper with the kind of catchy title you rarely see in science journals-”Abraham’s Children in the Genome Era”-scientists report that the Jews of the Diaspora share a set of telltale genetic markers, supporting the traditional belief that Jews scattered around the world have a common ancestry. But various Diaspora populations have their own distinct genetic signatures, shedding light on their origins and history. In Read more
Bible Prophecy Fulfilled Yet Again Maybe?
The last few weeks have been quite intense around the world, of course one of the biggest headlines around the globe has been the tragic oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. I often look now at disasters such as these & my first thought is…’What is being done to Israel at the moment?’ This is what I thought when I first heard about this oil disaster – ‘What is the US pressuring Israel about at the moment?’.
Here’s an interesting and provocative article from World Net Daily that I’m sure will generate a response of some sort; some will scoff and mock, others will sober up and take note. I hope you’ll be one of the latter.
Genesis 12:1-3 – ‘Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing. And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”’

How Much Worse Can It Get?
I first heard about ‘objectum sexual’ while listening to a podcast of Wretched Radio about a year ago if memory serves me correctly, it was something I would never have dreamed of being considered a ‘real condition’ but apparently it is.
This is where a person falls ‘in love’ with an object or a building or some such thing. The scenario being presented in the podcast was about a woman who had fallen in love with the Eiffel Tower in Paris France and proceeded to marry it. Yes, it’s true, I kid you not! You can read about it here. Another one I read about shortly after that was a woman who had fallen in love with the Berlin Wall and she also proceeded to marry it. You can read about that here.
Then today I read about a Japanese man who married an anime character that isn’t even real, but merely a cartoon drawing. Yes, I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. The whole story can be read here.
Now normally I wouldn’t blog about this kind of thing as it can be seen as nothing more than trashy, tabloid gossip, so my reason for blogging about this is to point out something very disturbing in our world today. It’s not something restricted to a particular geographic area or ethnicity or culture, it’s world-wide and increasing. The Read more
God’s Word Or Man’s Word?
It never ceases to amaze me how man tries time and time again to change history and undermine God’s Word. Because man hates God he hates all the God loves, and the number one target of man’s hatred is the Jew. God’s chosen people, whom He gave the responsibility to demonstrate God to the rest of the world, give the Word of God to the world, and who brought Yeshua, the Messiah to the world, have always been the central focus of hatred to a godless world that would deny the existence of God so as not to be accountable to Him.
Of course, for those of us who believe the Bible to be the very Words of God, we have no trouble at all believing that God is the creator of all man; that He is the One who chose Israel to be His example nation to the rest of the world and that regardless of all that man plots and schemes, God will continue to use Israel to fulfil that call.
For those who don’t believe in God or the Bible or the legitimacy of the nation of Israel, I would suggest you actually read the Bible and consider every passage that talks about Israel’s destruction and dispersion for disobedience as well as every passage that prophesies that God will restore Israel to the land HE GAVE THEM in the last days because of God’s faithfulness to His covenant (not Israel’s faithfulness to Him).
Long before men devised theories, hypotheses and opinions about the origins, history and future of Israel, God outlined her beginning, her centuries of power and dispersion and also her future. Man’s words are continually changing and altering and re-imagining new theories in order to attempt to discredit God and His people and yet, Read more
The Author’s Intent
I read a wonderful blog from Dr John Piper this morning, I cannot recommend his material enough, he’s a wonderful Bible teacher and has a real father’s heart.
Not only that but he hold the Bible in very high esteem which is becoming a rarity these days.
One thing I’ve learned over recent years is that God’s Word is authoritative and must not be meddled with. We cannot and do not have the right to reinterpret the Scriptures – God’s very words to us – in any way we want. It is very troubling to realise that in many churches around the world, people are being taught to read the Bible with open-ended interpretation, in other words…if there were half a dozen of us sitting around the kitchen table each reading the same passage of Scripture, we would go from one person to the other and ask, “What does this verse mean to you?” and if every one of us came to a different understanding of the passage, then that would be ok.
This is wrong. Let me say that again; this is a wrong way to read and interpret the Scriptures. We do not have the right to take God’s Word and make it say and mean whatever we want it
God Always Keeps His Promises
I’ve had a love for the Jewish people and the land of Israel since I was a very small child. I remember reading the stories of the Bible and reading about God’s special people whom He chose to bear witness of Him to the rest of the world.
It was always very impacting and reassuring somehow, knowing that no matter how many times Israel disobeyed God, He always saved them and restored them to Himself and the land He promised them after they’d been disciplined. Such is the way of a loving Father.
Knowing that God has been so very gracious to the Jewish people because of His goodness rather than because of their own has always been such a comfort and encouragement to me because if He can forgive them for their many sins and failures, He can forgive mine as well. He is a faithful and good and kind God.
What I’ve also learned about Israel throughout my Christian life is that the world hates them. Why is that? Well there’s really no rational reason for that other than jealousy and bigotry. God selected them for a purpose and through their obedience and disobedience, God has fulfilled His call and mission to reveal Himself to the world. It’s through the Jewish people that we know that God is ‘one’, it’s through the Jewish people that we have the Bible, the
Jordan Threatening War
I’ve just finished reading an article over at John McTernan’s Blog, a blog I highly recommend, and he’s posted a link to an article that indicates that Jordan’s King Abdullah is calling Jerusalem the ‘Red Line’, the Jerusalem is too important to Arabs, Muslim’s & Christian’s and that Israel simply must divide up it’s land INCLUDING the city of Jerusalem or face imminent war.
The American administration’s attitude toward Israel is appalling and their attitude toward Israel’s enemies is equally appalling, to the point where they’ve become certain that the USA, a nation that has historically been Israel’s greatest friend and ally, is now not so friendly with Israel and is more friendly, understanding and embracing of the entire Muslim world.
There are many wars foretold in the Bible to take place in the end of days, they all have to do with Israel and they all end in catastrophe for Israel’s enemies. There’s nothing we can do to stop them, they will happen or the Bible isn’t true. We can however pray that God will draw many soul’s to Himself through Yeshua His Son, and that Israel as a nation would repent and
